What to Eat While in Ladakh

Ladakhi Pulao 


Raw rice is cooked with mutton stock and seasonings. Further, it is layered with caramelized onions, carrots, and nuts. You might not get it on the streets but you can head to one of the restaurants for trying it.

Thukpa 


This is Ladakh's staple food and can be availed very easily. It is a noodle soup dish served with pieces of pork, beef, and boiled vegetables. Furthermore, it is served with a flavored chutney.

Momos


Momos are another favorite of the Ladakhis. While here, make sure to relish a steamy plate of momos with spicy chutney.

Tigmo 


This is a vegetarian dish that one might consume as a meal or even a snack at any time of the day. It is a flavored stew with vegetables served with bread. However, even though it is a vegetarian dish, there is also a non-vegetarian version available.


Khambir


This is a regular bread kind that the Ladakhis prefer with almost all their delicacies. It is a brown colored crusted bread prepared in a baking pan. It is mostly had with butter tea that is prepared using a pinch of salt and butter. The combination of the bread and tea is quite a popular dish for the Ladakhis.

Skew


This is yet another favorite of the locals. A dumpling soup served with vegetables into it. In a non-vegetarian option, mutton is the pick with added potatoes

Kulcha Bun


This bun is served with qahwa or tea in Ladakh quite popular amongst the locals.
